Applies to a Stage 1 tuned EA888 Gen 3 MQB vehicle after ECU flashing, intake path changes, ignition component replacement, suspension work, or battery power loss. These routines restore the ECU learned models so torque control, boost control, and drivability operate as intended.

Immediate Procedures After ECU Tune or Engine Hardware Changes
Required-
1Full vehicle scan and clear all stored faults Active faults can block basic settings and prevent modules from completing learning routines. Clearing historical faults ensures only current problems are detected afterward.

2Charge pressure actuator adaptation (electronic wastegate basic setting) Ignition on, engine off. The ECU learns the turbo actuator closed and open stop positions. After a tune changes boost targets, incorrect learned positions cause boost oscillation, underboost faults, and inconsistent torque delivery.

3Throttle body alignment Ignition on, engine off. Relearns throttle plate position and airflow relationship used by the torque model. Prevents unstable idle, throttle hesitation, and airflow miscalculation after tuning or battery disconnect.

4Steering angle sensor calibration Wheels straight ahead during calibration. Suspension or alignment changes alter steering reference position. Incorrect angle causes traction control intervention and unintended torque reduction under acceleration.
